Presentation Details:
- April 18, 2016
Who can submit an abstract:
- Any graduate student (Master/PhD).
- Upper year undergraduates involved with, or conducting a research thesis.
- Young professionals that have graduated within the last two years (January 2014 or later).
What kind of research/field can participate:
- As a multi/interdisciplinary conference we encourage delegates from any field of research to submit an abstract
- Research must be water related
- Past WatIF delegates presented research from over 25 different fields of study (including but not limited to: chemistry, geography, law, business, global development, biology, engineering, health sciences, etc.)
What stage/year must the research be in?
- We are all graduate students working towards the same goal and so we have designed WatIF to be a safe and encouraging environment to share ideas, air frustrations if you feel stuck, and show off your years of hard work. Therefore we encourage you to submit an abstract if you:
- just started your research and are formulating your ideas,
- are in the thick of your research and want to soundboard ideas,
- are about to defend,
- have already defended your research (in the last two years),
- are at any stage of your research project and would like to network and connect with your peers.
Abstract Themes:
- We didn't want to set predetermined themes for the abstract submission, therefore we have not set specific themes for abstracts just yet. Instead, we will read through your abstracts and keywords carefully and see where the different topics and disciplines intertwine, interact, intersect, etc. This allows us the freedom to create truly multi/interdisciplinary student concurrent sessions.
Abstract Details:
- You can submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation
- Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words (we will stop reading your abstract after 250 words)
- Format for presentation and posters will be posted once call for abstracts is open (February 11, 2016)
Presentation Details:
- You have two options for presentation: Oral or Poster
- Oral Presentation: Students will be given 15 minutes for their presentation. Students should prepare a 12 minute talk and leave 3 minutes for questions from your peers.
- Poster Presentation: Poster dimensions should be no greater than 4 ft. tall x 3 ft. wide.
- Once your abstract has been submitted, we will send you a document with tips and tricks to create a successful oral or poster presentation.
